Mission

The Shell Center for Sustainability's mission is to foster an interdisciplinary program of research, outreach, and education to address actions that can be taken to ensure the sustainable development of communities' living standards, interpreted broadly, to encompass all factors affecting the overall quality of life.

Operating Committee


The Shell Center for Sustainability Operating Committee provides leadership, direction and strategy development through the vision for the Center. Actions and activities considered by the Committee fall within the strategic plan to fulfill the Center’s mission. The committee includes interdisciplinary representation by Rice University faculty, staff and Shell representatives.

The Operating Committee meets twice during the academic year.
