United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Control (UNFCCC COP 20) takes place in Lima, Peru this year.
"Climate change is an international issue, and therefore requires international attention and cooperation. Since 1994, nations across the world have united through the UNFCCC to work toward the stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, with the ultimate aim of preventing dangerous human interference in the climate system.
Lima, Peru, has the honor and privilege of hosting the twentieth session of the conference of the parties to the UNFCCC December 1st-12th 2014, and the main objective is to discuss international standards regarding climate change. Peru was chosen because its environment has been severely damaged by climate change and greenhouse gasses. The negative effects of climate change and excessive greenhouse gas emissions are clearly evidenced in Peru’s drastic glacier loss in the Andes Mountains, as well as prolonged droughts in Peru’s Amazon rainforest."
