Mission

The Shell Center for Sustainability's mission is to foster an interdisciplinary program of research, outreach, and education to address actions that can be taken to ensure the sustainable development of communities' living standards, interpreted broadly, to encompass all factors affecting the overall quality of life.

July 26, 2011  -  SCS Appoints Sustainability Fellow

The Shell Center for Sustainability (SCS) announces the appointment of Lester King, Ph.D., as the SCS Postdoctoral Fellow to lead the Sustainable Development Indicators Project for the Houston region.

 


 

July 22, 2011  -  Measuring City Sustainability: Project HoustonWhat does it mean for a city to achieve "sustainability"? A new report funded by Rice University's Shell Center for Sustainability proposes a group of indicators to measure sustainability and then gathers data describing how the Houston metropolitan area performs in relation to these indicators.
