Mission

The Shell Center for Sustainability's mission is to foster an interdisciplinary program of research, outreach, and education to address actions that can be taken to ensure the sustainable development of communities' living standards, interpreted broadly, to encompass all factors affecting the overall quality of life.

September 3, 2010  -  Video Competition - A Land Use Video

Entries for the Land Use Video Competition, "Houston's Land Use" are due September 3, 2010. The top finalists will be recongnized at the conference, Sustainable Land Use, on October 5, 2010. The winner will receive a cash award. Read about the project and get the prospectus .

January 27, 2010  -  The Great Climate Change Debate: Global Climate Models and the Evidence

Join the Center for the Study of the Environment and Society, and the Shell Center for Sustainability for: The Great Climate Change Debate: Global Climate Models and the Evidence.

The event will feature Dr. Richard Lindzen, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Dr. Jerry North of A&M University, at the Rice University campus.
