Mission

The Shell Center for Sustainability's mission is to foster an interdisciplinary program of research, outreach, and education to address actions that can be taken to ensure the sustainable development of communities' living standards, interpreted broadly, to encompass all factors affecting the overall quality of life.

The Shell Eco-Marathon takes place on March 26-28, at Discovery Green, Houston, Texas. The Shell Center for Sustainability will feature the Solar Capteur. More on the Event. Read about the  Solar Capteur project . 


 

January 27, 2010  -  The Great Climate Change Debate: Global Climate Models and the Evidence

Join the Center for the Study of the Environment and Society, and the Shell Center for Sustainability for: The Great Climate Change Debate: Global Climate Models and the Evidence.

The event will feature Dr. Richard Lindzen, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Dr. Jerry North of A&M University, at the Rice University campus. Join the Shell Center for Sustainability, for this event on January 20, 2010, to raise awareness about the state of our region's quality of place, the progress that has been made, and the issues that still remain.


 

January 6, 2010  -  SSC Issues Call for Rice University Student Independent Research Papers on Sustainable Development

The Shell Center for Sustainability has issued a call for Rice University student independent research papers on sustainable development. Rice students interested in submitting a paper are encouraged to read the  call for proposals  for more information.
