The Shell Center for Sustainability's mission is to foster an interdisciplinary program of research, outreach, and education to address actions that can be taken to ensure the sustainable development of communities' living standards, interpreted broadly, to encompass all factors affecting the overall quality of life.

Dr. Sarah Whiting

School of Architecture
Rice University

Whiting is a design principal of WW Architecture and currently serves as Dean of the Rice University School of Architecture. She has previously taught at institutions such as Harvard's Graduate School of Design, the Princeton University School of Architecture, the Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Kentucky and the University of Florida. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and a Master of Architecture from Princeton before going on to receive a Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She had previously worked in the offices of Peter Eisenman, Michael Graves, and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, where she served as a designer for the Euralille master plan, among other projects.
