Meeting SCS Fellow Travis Swanson

Travis Swanson is a Shell Center for Sustainability (SCS) Fellow assigned to the Stress Nexus of Coastlines project. He explores coastal landscape and development predictions. He is working with data that relates to wave, sea level change, and historical change over time with an emphasis on making objective predictions with a holistic view of coastal barrier islands and peninsulas considering past behavior. He is putting the data into a model to hindcast and forecast meaningful predictions for the Texas coast. His advisors are Dr. John Anderson and Dr. Jeffrey Nittrouer.

Dr. Swanson attended the University of Texas in Austin for his undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. He worked at Shell before joining the Shell Center for Sustainability at Rice University in 2016.
